About Us

Welcome!

I’m Jenny, the mom behind Full Passport Family. I’m a millennial parent who is winging it most days while also obsessively planning our next trip.

I’m a social worker with a Master’s in Social Work and a Master’s in Public Health, a traveler to more than 40 countries, and a mom to two young children who shape the way I see the world. I’m passionate about helping families raise resilient, empathetic kids who embrace the world with open hearts and minds.

My six year old is endlessly curious and full of big ideas. My two year old is silly and deeply observant. They are the heart of this blog and the reason I care so much about helping families explore the world with confidence, connection, and curiosity.

Why Child Wellbeing

Before motherhood, I spent over a decade working in refugee mental health, social emotional learning, and school behavior programs. I supported children and families through transitions, trauma, and big feelings, and I learned how much kids rely on connection and compassion.

I’ve also been a foster mom, caring for refugee children of many ages and supported foster children to develop communication skills, build resilience, and feel safe in new environments. These experiences shaped the way I parent and travel today,

Why the name Full Passport Family?

Back in my mid-20s, I found myself stuck in Uganda with a passport that was completely full of stamps and visas meaning I could not leave the country. After a slightly frantic visit to the embassy, I managed to get it sorted, but the thrill of that adventure, and many others across the globe, sparked a lifelong love of travel.

Now, with two young kids in tow, our passports are filling up again as we navigate life overseas in Nairobi, Kenya.

Our Family Travel Story

Traveling with young children can feel overwhelming. I understand that deeply. I once flew solo for 26 hours with a baby and a five year old, pushing through blowouts, tears, and time zone chaos.

In the time we’ve lived overseas, we’ve had some amazing moments and also faced unexpected challenges, such as when we experienced an emergency evacuation from Africa. Through the highs and the lows, I’ve learned just how strong and capable families can be and also how deeply meaningful it is to explore the world together.
